On March 12, at 19.00, the Barn Bourgeois Art Gallery hosted the presentation of the Ballet in China exhibition...

The exhibition was opened by Tatyana Tylevich, Director General of Imperial Porcelain Factory JSC and Nikolai Tsiskaridze, Rector of the A.Ya. Russian Ballet Academy Vaganova.

In her welcoming speech, Tatyana Tylevich emphasized that ballet and porcelain are two symbols of St. Petersburg and Russia as a whole. In the fusion of these unique spheres of culture, unusual works of art are born, in which the magical moment of beauty is immortalized in a noble material. For centuries, Russian ballet, its centuries-old traditions and unsurpassed geniuses have been an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artists and sculptors of the IPF.

At the event were presented works of the IPF dedicated to the most magical of all types of art - ballet. At the evening, religious sculptures were presented, which were a welcome acquisition for collectors: the pearl of the Russian Art Nouveau “Tamara Karsavin” by Serafim Sudbinin, a vivid example of realism “Galina Ulanova” - Elena Yanson-Manizer. Each piece in china has its own destiny. Thus, the sculptural image of Tamara Karsavina is a truly ambitious project for the Imperial Porcelain Factory during the reign of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II. The ballerina stands on two fingers and, surprisingly, she has no supports!
